Being a lover of garden birds and birds of all feathers, I found this drawing deeply poignant, nearly heartbreaking. I wonder what the sad little song of the bereaved bird sounds like? Absolutely beautiful drawing.
Not so sad a drawing. Sort of a rhumination on death apropos of the previous entry. What happens when we die? Do our bodies just drop & decay, or are our souls lifted, singing some yet unkown song? hmmmm chirp? chirp?
You're absolutely right about the drawing's being related to the Maira Kalman entry--I just didn't want to place it in the midst of the piece as if it were part of her visual diary.
BUT I maintain that it's too sad...for me at least.

Thank you for the commentary. Ever since I posted the drawing last evening, though, I've been considering deleting it because it makes me too sad.
